Souls Musical

Souls is an original award-winning musical production by Veronika O’odal Mbaya and Joel Akweyu. It was first performed on World Peace Day (21st September) in 2014 and later won a Sanaa Theatre Award for Best Dance Theatre Production in 2015.
Only seven professional dancers originally performed it in a period of 2 hours. Since then Souls has been rewritten to include music pieces and narration for the enhancement of the experience. It has also been redesigned for a cast of 36. This production that is both moving and engaging is written in abstract form with no name or nation, making it relevant to any community, culture, age and period. The musical production is a metaphorical production depicting the plight of a community in civil war. The dance, music and narration numbers takes us through their journey from peace, into unrest, into the ups and downs of attempting to rebuild a broken people and finally the challenge of maintaining their newly found peaceful life.

‘Yugpurush – The Play’ is a heart-touching and riveting portrayal of an untold story of two legends in Indian history. A production of historic and dramatic significance dedicated to the lives of two great men who changed the course of world history; Mahatma Gandhi and his spiritual mentor, Shrimad Rajchandraji.
‘Yugpurush – The Play’ highlights the value of expanding one's capacity to love and give selflessly, respecting diversity, supporting truth and building lasting communities. It brings to life the powerful experience of looking within whilst upholding trust and fearlessness. It revives an inspiring spiritual legacy and cultural ethos of the Indian nation that remains forgotten, today. The legacies of Shrimadji and Gandhiji continue to offer new paradigms to global peace and human progress. The play is enthralling audiences the world over in Gujarati, Hindi, English, Marathi, Tamil, Kannada and Bengali.
This initiative will also support the construction of Shrimad Rajchandra Hospital - a new 200-bed multi-speciality charity hospital serving one of the poorest rural regions of South Gujarat, India.
